Charger RT-
(Completed August 1, 2004)
Prior
to this 1968 Charger RT arriving at my shop, all of the major
rust repair was completed but unfortunately the whole car was
then sand blasted using "black beauty," a very aggressive
blasting media. This created waves over 90 percent of the surface
and an enormous challenge to make it right again. First I corrected
what the first welder had done poorly. Then a skim coat of body
filler and a great deal of block sanding was done to remove the
waves before the primer coat was applied. The final paint was
many layers of base followed by 4 coats of clearcoat. After being
wet sanded with 2000 grit and buffed, the finish looks great.
The customer wanted to do some of the final assembly in his new
garage this winter, so the bumpers were mounted along with a few
other trim pieces and it was ready to go. |
