This
1963 Porsche 356 came to my shop looking very nice from 15 feet
away. On close inspection, however, it was obvious that the rockers,
lower door skins and front and rear fenders at the doors were
rusted and poorly repaired in the past. I started by fitting the
doors correctly and then built the rockers and fenders to fit
with the proper gaps. The doors were then removed, reskinned in
the lower 4 inches, and rehung. The rest of the car was gone over
to remove waves, and then it was repainted back to the original
color using a Dupont two stage urethane paint. Again, the customer
was planning to complete the final trim fitting and assembly.
I am always happy to do any or all stages of restoration and allow
the customer to do any part that they would like to on their own.
I am also glad to give some advice or pointers when asked. |
